A Tribute to Scottish Artist and Paisley Museum Reimagined Patron, John Byrne
Renfrewshire’s Provost Lorraine Cameron paid the following tribute,
“I am so sad to hear John has passed away and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this time. It was an honour to be able to award him the Freedom of Renfrewshire last year. John was one of Paisley and Renfrewshire’s favourite sons – he was fiercely proud of his hometown and his time spent here shaped his most iconic works. He was an incredible talent whose authentic voice was loved by audiences at home and abroad. His amazing legacy lives on and we will continue to honour that here in Renfrewshire.”
Reopening Paisley Museum without John won’t be the same and he will be sorely missed. However, the revitalised galleries and displays will offer the perfect setting to showcase his iconic artworks and celebrate an inspirational life.
You can find out more about one of these displays by visiting the Slab Boys and Girls article published in July.
