Community Engagement Funding Success

The William Syson Foundation has made a donation of £5,000 to help support the innovative community engagement work delivered by the project team and local partners.

Major Construction Milestone

Renfrewshire Council are now accepting expressions of interest from construction firms who wish to undertake the £21 million main contractor role.

The punch cards used by the Jacquard loom are pictured. Long strips of card are sewn together, each card has a sequence of holes in it. The holes in the card correspond to a line of pattern in the woven fabric.

Interactive weaving studio

The immersive Weaving Studio will feature digital and live demonstrations and include objects such as a Jacquard and Plain Loom, punch cards and shawls.

Dedicated Learning Spaces

The museum's transformation includes two dedicated learning spaces: an area for group events and a hands-on space for workshops, featuring a makers' space.
